Advent with Pressed Olives: Day 12

Peace...my Grandma was the image of peace. I always think about her more during this time of year. She was full of peace. I am fairly certain that the world could have crashed around her and she still would have found internal peace. She often said to me, "That's just the way it is, Nicole." She said this to me when I was 3 and when I was 40. The meaning behind the sentiment did not change, but the situations that she said them about did change. She also was often singing old hymns while playing the piano. We have a video of her playing and singing a few years before she died. It seemed that nothing fazed her. She was a great model of relying on the peace that Jesus so freely gives.

As I was reading the posts this week, I have been reflecting on peace. Reflecting on the people, the things, and the thoughts that bring peace.

My Grandma's cardigan, that I'm wearing now, fills me with peace. She always wore a cardigan for pockets - for kleenux, small candies, and gum. The things that my Grandma made at this time of year fill me with peace. There was never a Christmas at Grandma's house without Ting-a-Lings. And there have not been any Christmas's at my home without them, either.
