I’m starting off with a confession. When I saw the topic for my post today was peace I considered (strongly considered) asking someone to switch with me. I didn’t feel qualified to share on this topic. And that’s because I’m struggling a lot right now with feeling like peace in my life is nearly impossible.
I keep thinking “I’ll just get through this one thing- and life will get easier, right?” I don’t expect life to be easy but does it really need to be so hard?!? Can I get an Amen?
I googled what the meaning of peace is and I found this: Peace is stress-free state of security and calmness that comes when there's no fighting or war, everything coexisting in perfect harmony and freedom.
Riiiiight. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Do you feel like you’ve been chasing after definitions of peace your whole life? Well, I sure do. I confess that l’ve often felt frustrated at God for not giving me a life that is more peaceful.
As I thought on, prayed on and read for this post I just kept getting stuck. And it’s because I’ve been looking at it all wrong.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV

Peace isn’t about having God remove the struggles we face. It’s about pushing through all the messy circumstances with the faith and understanding that God will come through. In face, he already has! Our battle is already won. That kind of peace won’t remove the turmoil in our lives but it gives us the confidence we need to keep going. The peace we have been given through Jesus allows us rest, stillness and a sense of quiet in our hearts that nothing else can bring us.
If we aren’t spiritually led we will be emotionally lead. Ladies, I can assure you that if I continue to allow my emotions to lead me…. I will not find the peace I seek.
Can you relate to this? What emotion is leading you right now that is leading you away from peace (God) and towards more chose (the opposite of peace)?

Share with me below and I’ll pray for you this week!
This week I encourage you to stop waiting for peace to come into your life. Stop waiting to be happy and enjoy things around you while you work through a hard season of life. Open your arms, accept the gift of peace Jesus has to give you and step out into the world with your head held high!
The pics below are from last weekend. I kept saying to myself I’d decorate and do some Christmas things “soon”. I’d been feeling so weighed down and depressed. Preparing this message helped me realize the time was passing anyway! My circumstances were not going to change anytime “soon”. With my renewed sense of peace from Jesus, I spent the day living life in the season I’m in and finding joy in the midst of struggle!
