Glorified

Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”

‭‭John‬ ‭11‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I've often allowed circumstances to obstruct my view of God. Some awful thing becomes so largely my focus that I give “it” power, I give “it” honor. I think about it, meditate on it, talk to it. All the while I'm being shaken by something far inferior to God.

Why?

I gave “it” my gaze.

Jesus, the one whom You love is hurting. Jesus, the one whom You love is_________.

Fill in the blank. Because whatever it is isn't meant to get the glory. Only Jesus is meant to be glorified.

I don't want to fall into this baited trap ever again. To have my gaze caught by anything other than Jesus.

What I am so grateful to have learned is that every difficulty is the opportunity to grow in intimacy with God. I can lean into His chest like the disciple Jesus loved- because I too am loved. I can fully surrender all in unquestioned trust.

Truth is I'm not very good at handling crisis but God is. Truth is I wasn't made to do any life thing by myself - I am created to walk with God. I don't want any other kind of life.

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We also glory in tribulations…….

Say what now?

Our faith in God. Our endurance in the storm. Our character when being tried. Our hope. Our peace. The love of God- it is all quite tangible to those watching. God is glorified in you through it.

What a privilege it is.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
