I CORINTHIANS 8

Imagine a battle between knowledge and love. Which would win? Does the answer differ from person to person?

It’s imaginary so we will never know…and it’s likely an unfair fight. They are both important. Look at the NLT (New Living Translation) text for the 1st verse in the chapter for today -

”Now regarding your question about food that has been offered to idols. Yes, we know that “we all have knowledge” about this issue. But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church.“

I can just hear some people in my life stating this to me. I can hear them say, “Nora, the answer is so clear. How can you even question it?” Fill in the blank with your own “it”.

I have not lived as long as some, but I have realized that some questions do not have answers. And, while it is very important to seek knowledge…”it is love that strengthens the church”!!!

Such a beautiful thought.

And, if love can strengthen a church, that means it can also strengthen you and me.

We have to give love AND receive love for it to grow us.

Are you open to receive the love around you? Are you able to love yourself as fully as Jesus loves you?

Reflect today on love and say this short prayer with me. It is vital that you know deep within your soul that Jesus loves you. It is vital to accept His love so that you can love others in a healthy way.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for loving me just as I am. Thank you for showing me how important both knowledge and love are. Help me, today to grow in the knowledge of Your love so that I can truly love others. In Jesus Name, Amen
