ISAIAH 31

“What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.”

Isaiah 31:1

Who do you look to for help?   I have lots of trouble asking for help, sometimes even from God. I am sure it is my pride. I don’t like to admit that, but it is true. I like to solve things, figure them out and not bother other people with my stuff.  I have had to ask for help, from God and from people. I mean, God already knows what I need, so that makes it a little easier.

In this Chapter we see that God is telling us not to look to mankind for the kind of help only He can provide. We shouldn’t put our trust in what people can do, we should trust God.

He most likely will use people to assist us, to aid in whatever we have need of, but He is the one that provides. He is the one that opens the doors and gives every good gift.

Have you ever found yourself trusting in people or things over God?

The verse that I highlighted reminds me of this one in Psalms.

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

Psalms 20:7

It is easy to fall into depending on our own wisdom or knowledge, or our things, our jobs, or other people instead of God.

God tells us to trust Him above all else. Look to Him, the author and finisher of our faith for everything we  need.  He knows what is best.

Prayer: Jesus, forgive me for not turning to you first at times. I am sorry that I have relied on things or people before you. You are the one I need more than anything. I trust you. Nothing is more important than You and no one knows me better than you.  Thank you for your constant love and mercy. Thank you for your abundant blessings. Help me to not trust in them, and only trust in You.  I trust you and I love you.
