Advent with Pressed Olives: Day 11

Tanicka J

Peace

I am not gonna lie, it’s super hard for me to rest and allow the Lord to bring me peace. I have to work for it and be intentional about being still long enough to receive peace.

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.”

‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I believe the Lord can and will give me peace at all times, but I also believe I play a role in how I receive it. How long does the peace last? Maybe just long enough to get me refocused. He brings me peace when I’m fearful of the unknown. He always provides a reminder that he is still God no matter the circumstance.

As we all reflected on last week, the birth of Christ brings us hope and also brings us peace. This season my family and I found peace and comfort in painting. As we thought about what to paint. We asked each other what Christmas is really about. The children AGREED (believe it or not) that we should paint a nativity scene. The birth of our savior brings peace to all that know him and we were able to take some time to celebrate that. We finished our painting with a signature and a favorite scripture that would keep us encouraged.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I loved how I was able to find peace in painting but what was most exciting was seeing my family find peace as well. I believe we are teaching our kids to allow God to provide peace and we don’t even realize it in the moment. All of our worries were put aside for a while. It is so beautiful to watch. I am so thankful that the Lord allows us to impact those around us in small and big ways.
