Pursue Love
I CORINTHIANS 14
"Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. he who prophesies edifies the church. let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel. but prophesying is not for unbelievers but for those who believe. But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you."
I Corinthians 14:1, 3, 4b, 12b, 22b, 24-25
Pursue love! And yes, desire spiritual gifts, especially to prophesy. Love and spiritual gifts go hand in hand. Prophecy most of all. God stir in me the right motive and the right spirit to use what you have gifted. Prophesying isn't to edify myself but to edify Your church.
Prophesy is meant to lead all to face down worship. For You alone know the heart of all men. You know the secrets and schemes of the enemy at work from generation to generation. Let your people be encouraged to excel the work of Your kingdom through words of prophecy. Let prophetic words spoken reveal Your heart toward Your children.
You are a God who gives every good and perfect gift! Thank you Lord, that You are still giving good and perfect spiritual gifts to Your children.
"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills."
I Corinthians 12: 8-12
The working of the Spirit is not in my own abilities or personal gift set. It is distributed as He wills-when He wills-how He wills. Not by might, nor by power, not by many pleases or hopeful prayers. He gives to whom He chooses. It is acceptable to ask for gifts but it should be known they are given to profit others, and not ourselves. They are not given to profit me, my image, my finance, my stature- they are given to showcase the power and authority of Jesus Christ. I am nothing without Him, let me never be puffed up, but stay continually humble.
Thank you God for revealing more and more to me. I do not want to be ignorant of what and how you move. I want to be a bessel and conduit to bring hope to the nations. All else is vanity and chaff in the wind. Promote me spiritually Father, I want to be changed and transformed by You. In Jesus' name, amen!
