Wait For Victory

1 Chronicles 14
Good Morning Olives – Let today be a great day!
The Philistines made yet another raid in the valley. David inquired again of God and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around behind them and come at them in front of the balsam trees.”
1 Chronicles 14:13-14
When I read this, I immediately think about struggles I have faced and how if I have gone through something similar then I will know exactly how to win this battle too. Or I will know what needs to be done to get through.
There is that pride again.
I have learned that each and every battle we go through is completely different. Even if the battle seems familiar, we are at a different place in our life when it occurs. Or God is getting ready to break some new ground in us and needs to use the battle again to teach us something we missed the last time. I see this so many times – I think I am a slow learner when it comes to this.
He is always working things for our good. And that requires seeking him and waiting.
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.
Psalm 27:14
I have to remember that I am only seeing a piece of the circumstance. God sees it all and requires that wait to build trust. God never changes and needs us to go to him first. To be an active partner with him.
I am working on waiting to see the evidence of God’s work in my life. That can be my thoughts changing slightly, my priorities shifting, my need for time alone and time with God. I know when I feel like that, God is working to move something or change something in me. I need to give myself completely to the “battle” so God’s victory can come through.
With God we will gain victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
Psalm 108:13
David was careful to inquire of the Lord on how to proceed in the battle. And God commanded him to go about this battle in a different way. We need to seek that council from God first, before we act.
Prayer – Father, open my eyes to see, and my ears to hear, to know your will. I choose to be obedient to your direction, even when it is unexpected. Keep me from assuming anything that isn’t already established by your word. Thank you for being unchanging and remind me to seek you continually so that I can match my actions to your will for every circumstance in my life. In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.
