Change of Plans

1 Chronicles 28
David wanted to build the temple for the Lord. Although it was a great idea to honor the Lord, God had other plans.
But God said to me, ‘You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood.
1 Chronicles 28:3 NIV
God did not want a man of war to build the temple but rather a man of peace. He wanted this temple to be a place of prayer for all the nations. He chose David’s son Solomon to complete this task.
And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.
1 Chronicles 28:9 NIV
Have you ever been in David’s shoes before? He had the great idea but then God said “ Nope! I have a different plan” This takes me back to the the time in my life when I made a plan to move back home to Washington from California. I planned it out, had a job lined up, and even convinced my best friend to move with me! Then God placed it on my heart to go a different direction. It was so clear to me that he wanted me to move to Wisconsin. I am not going to lie, I was really upset and didn’t go without kicking and screaming 😂. I could have never imagined what God was going to do with that redirection. So many prayers were answered and of course, he knew what he was doing!

David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.
1 Chronicles 28:20 NIV
Believe me, it was not easy and was pretty scary. Just like verse 20 says I had to be strong and courageous because the Lord was with me. I learned that when God closes a door or redirects me, it’s for good reason and I need to continue to praise him.
PRAYER: Lord thank you for never letting me down. Your ways are always better. Forgive me for those times when I doubted your plan. You are my provider and always make a way for me and my family. Thank you for giving me the boldness to follow your plans. I give you all the praise and the glory. Amen
AMEN
