SOAP 2 Chronicles 13: Who Are You Relying On?

Martina Z.

Who Are You Relying On?

2 Chronicles 13

Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the Lord God of their fathers.

2 Chronicles 13:18 KJV

Abijah was in a physical battle, he and his army were surrounded by the enemy. As soon as he realized they cried out to God, the priests sounded with trumpets. They worshiped in the middle of the battle.

I am not in a physical battle but I am in a spiritual one.

We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 6:12 KJV

I am also surrounded by the enemy and he wants to destroy me.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your advisory the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

1 Peter 5:8

I can’t always see the battle but I can feel it. I can tell by my attitude, my physical strength. I just don’t want to do anything.

When you are in the middle of the battle what do you do? Do you turn to God or are you relying on your own strength? Do you worship even when you don’t feel like it? Even when it seems you are surrounded?

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 KJV

What are you doing before the battle has begun? Because a battle will come. Agijah was prepared, he had not forgotten. The priests had been about their business (vs 11).

Have you forgotten the previous battles? Have you forgotten where you were when you received Jesus? When you stopped fighting your own battles and turned them over to Him? The times you called on His name and He showed up for you? I wish I could say I haven’t. It is so easy to forget all the Lord has done for me and wonder why things are not going the way I planned. Have I cast out God and put myself or something else in His place?

Jesus, help me to rely on You and only You. Forgive me for relying on myself or other people. Help me to lean on you and run into your arms. To remember Jeremiah 29:11;

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (KJV).
The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. Proverbs 18:10 KJV
The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Exodus 14:14 KJV

Help me to remember Your word, Your promises.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17 NKJV

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 40:10 NKJV

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand. Psalms 37:23-24 NKJV

Be Anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be make known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things. Philippians 4:6-8 NKJV
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 NKJV

In Jesus name, Amen.
