2 Timothy 2

In chapter two, Paul continues to disciple Timothy and give him direction. He wants Timothy to go out and disciple others.
You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.
2 Timothy 2:2 NLT
As he is writing, you can see through his examples of the soldier, athlete, and farmer that God’s hand is on our discipleship but it requires us to take some action. It will be hard and nothing happens overnight. For me, this ties into 1 Peter 5:2

Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God.
We must take care of those whom God has entrusted us to disciple. What makes this hard for me is I don’t know where to start. Am I even equipped enough to disciple others? What if I have a wrong understanding of scripture? What if I say the wrong thing? To be honest, it’s pretty scary for me to think about. I guess the first place for me to start is to pray. The Lord will show me who I am supposed to disciple and probably provide opportunities for me to be obedient.

PRAYER: Lord thank you for your living word. There were so many great things that stuck out to me. Thank you for getting rid of distractions so that I can take this time to draw near to you. Continue to show me new things in your word that stirs my heart. Give me the courage to pray uncomfortable prayers and walk in faith knowing that you will equip me to do what is needed. It’s in your wonderful name I pray. Amen
