SOAP 2 Timothy 3: Always True

Nora R.

Always True

2 Timothy 3

The New Testament writers so often seem to be speaking directly to us. Interestingly, though, every generation that has read this verse. They likely felt the same way and thought - Timothy is speaking about my generation.

”But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!“

II Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV

And, one generation will be correct. Whether is it in my life, my children’s lives, or their children’s lives or past that generation, the end will come. This is true. Every Word written in this Bible is true. Timothy reminds us of the importance of the truth of God’s word in this last verse of the chapter:

”All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.“

II Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV

I think it is important to remember that if it is all true and because it is all God-breathed…it is all relevant to each one of us…all the time. It is relevant in the good times, in the bad times, in the times that we believe and the times that we don’t believe. In the times that we wonder where God is and the times that we experience His miracles. God’s Word is always relevant, always meaningful, always true.

There is much distress in the world around us. It does not feel as “safe” as it once did. There is so often distress within us, as well. There is illness, injustice, confusion, doubt, loneliness. Still, God’s Word is true, relevant, and meaningful.

“I called on the Lord in distress; The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

Psalm 118:5-6 NKJV

Pray with me today…Give Jesus all your fears, all your doubts, all your questions.

Jesus, I am in awe that You are always at my side. You always hear me, You always see me, You always protect me. I do still have fears. I still have doubts. I still ask why. I am encouraged to read and know that you are in control. I am encouraged today to read this chapter, these verse that remind me that Your Word is enough to complete me. Thank You, Jesus, for this day, this moment. Help me to show others Your love today as You have so freely given Your love to me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
