SOAP Ephesians 5: Honeycomb

Tanicka J

Honeycomb

Ephesians 5

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Ephesians 5:15-17 NIV

Chapter 5 is such a great chapter. Paul talks about how we are supposed to follow God's example. We should love, avoid all kinds of impurities, and avoid foolish talk. We must be the light in the darkness and understand the Lord's will.

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Proverbs 16:24 NIV

He also gives instructions to Christians regarding marriage and the roles wives and husbands should have in their household. He relates this to how Christ serves, loves, and protects the church. A few verses stood out to me but I keep going back to Ephesians

5:15-17.

It makes me ask:

Am I making the most out of every opportunity?

Am I being wise or unwise?

Do I understand the Lord’s will?

I think I go through seasons when I’m wise and unwise and seasons when I understand God’s will for my life. It gets tricky because it isn’t always so easy.

PRAYER: Lord thank you for giving these instructions to me. Sometimes I get so caught up in what is going on in my life that I forget to do things according to your will. Help me stay focused on what you have for me and my family. Give me wisdom and help me make the most out of the opportunities you give me. In Jesus's name, Amen.
