Destruction for Majesty

ISAIAH 24
They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; For the majesty of the Lord They
shall cry aloud from the sea.
Isaiah 24:14 NKJV
This chapter is really one of destruction. In destruction, though, the Majesty of
Jesus is always present.
Mountain ranges always remind me of the great Majesty of Jesus. I don’t fully
comprehend them. To my eyes, these ranges go on and on. They come out of
the earth and stay, despite the desperation of man to claim them with roads and
homes and trails. They can be cruel. There are landslides and avalanches, and
deaths due to the extreme weather changes that occur on the mountain tops.
Man can never fully claim the mountain, just as man can never fully claim God’s
Majesty here on earth. We will, one day, when we are with Him. But, here and
now, we will never fully understand, we will never fully claim, all of His Majesty.

God decided where these mountains should be. He decided how much of His
Majesty that we will see. And He decides when we will see it all.
In an attempt at applying this to my day to day, I do wonder what must be
destroyed to see the Majesty of my creator. It’s a difficult thought because I don’t
like destruction. I usually view life as building up, growing, striving for more, being
content, but not too content to not desire a bit more. I’m the glass is half full kind
of girl.
So, what must be destroyed in me? Some pride? Some love of things? Some
love of work? Selfishness? Control? Love of pleasure? Avoidance of pain?
Hard thoughts. I’m thankful that Jesus can help me sort through them. I’m so
grateful that when I seek Him and seek closeness to Him that many of these
things naturally change.
God can do what He wants. He can make things gray and silent and sad.
The earth turns gaunt and gray, the world silent and sad, sky and land lifeless,
colorless.
Isaiah 24:4 MSG

And, in the end, it is His Majesty that reigns.
Then the moon will be disgraced And the sun ashamed; For the Lord of hosts will
reign On Mount Zion and in Jerusalem And before His elders, gloriously.
Isaiah 24:23 NKJV
Prayer: Jesus, let us see your Majesty today in the world around us and in the people
around us. Help us be humbled enough for others to see You in us. You are
great. You are Majestic. You are Holy. I bow before you this morning. I find peace
in Your shadow. I find shall find peace in Your destruction. “Yea though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with
me…” (Psalm 23:4, NKJV). I find peace in Your Majestic presence today and
always.
