Signs and Wonders

ISAIAH 34
“Look in the scroll of the Lord and read: None of these will be missing, not one will lack her mate.
For it is his mouth that has given the order, and his Spirit will gather them together”.
Isaiah 34:16 NIV
God is angry in this scripture. So often we see and read of a loving, forgiving God (which of course he is!) But we forget that there will be judgement for our actions. For our rebellion. God knows he is reliable, trustworthy and sure. But he also wants his people to know his character this way too. He wants his people to know that he told them of his plans beforehand.
For God will bring every deed into judgement, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:14 ESV

I see two things I need to do with this verse. I need to remember that God moves miraculously in my own life. Big and small miracles all the time that if I let it, can fade in my memory. It can cause me to become cynical and not revel in the significance of what God has done for me. How easily I can forget the amazing blessings he has done for me. This is where I need to reflect on all he does for me in my life. My pastor brought up keeping a prayer journal. Where you write down the specific prayers you have prayed and then when they are answered you write the date. I love this and have adopted it. Since I started thisprocess in January I already have 3 significant prayers that have been answered for others. Praise God! What a great way to continually remind myself of all of God’s goodness and love.
We also need to testify to his grace and mercy. Out loud and boldly. I am mainly talking to myself here. Talking to your family, your friends and sharing your testimony with others. Bear witness to non-believers. We don’t want to keep those miracles to ourselves. I know for me when someone shares a testimony of what God has done for them or through them, I feel so much more encouraged.
He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.
Deuteronomy 10:21
Also, I need to give more credence to the words of God and my encounters with him. The Bible is infallible and I am not. I know for myself I have a remarkable ability to rationalize my experiences. I need to remember to take those experiences back to the Word. Test them against what I know and God’s promises. Then I can see what is good, bad or a lie. Or what is just me (in being human) I don’t know about you, but I can talk myself out of something good or into something wrong way too easy! If I feel God is telling me something or prompting me, I can also seek the word of God and know what is true.
Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.
2 Samuel 7:28 (NIV)

Prayer: Father, thank you for the Bible. I would be lost and hopeless without it. Speak to me and lead me by the Holy Spirit. Help me rely on the infallibility of Scripture. Give me discipline and let me seek you diligently in Your book. Help me find truth and certainty in it and by it recognize the truth in my prayers. Help me in the development of spiritual discernment. In everything, be glorified above all else. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
