This Way

ISAIAH 40

”The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth; The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”“

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

What a beautiful site. We know verse three refers to John the Baptist, we also know then this is about all flesh seeing Jesus Messiah of the world.

How does the apply to today?

Perhaps – we are also voices crying in the wild world we live in. Obviously we are not John the baptist. And maybe it’s not with a billboard or picket line, but instead, it’s in the way we live.  It’s in our speech, how we treat and care for others, and how we live out, lives of peace in a chaotic world. I know we might see a ton of “Jesus” things, but when you look around at our culture, our country – we see a drought of holiness; making straight in the desert. We make pathways to God – we are a wellspring of the goodness of God and a dry and weary culture. The humble will be lifted, and the prideful and arrogant will be made low.

Prayer:  Thank you Lord that we have seen your great light. Give us courage, give us the right words to share your gospel and good news. In Jesus’ name amen.
