Listen and Speak
ISAIAH 51

Listen to me, all who hope for deliverance—all who seek the Lord! Consider the rock from which you were cut, the quarry from which you were mined.
Isaiah 51:1 NLT
Listen to me, my people. Hear me, Israel, for my law will be proclaimed, and my justice will become a light to the nations.
Isaiah 51:4 NLT
For I am the Lord your God, who stirs up the sea, causing its waves to roar My name is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. And I have put my words in your mouth and hidden you safely in my hand.
Isaiah 51:15-16 NLT

God is reminding Israel of HIs power, His providence, and His promises in this chapter.
These verses stood out to me. God asks us to listen. He asks us to remember our
foundation in Him. He reminds us of His justice, mercy and power. He created all things,
He set the sun, moon and stars in the sky. He told the sea where to end, and the
mountain where to rise. He is able to do all things.
He then reminds us that He put His word in our mouths. This is so powerful. We have
the creative force of God, in our mouth. In the book of James, we are told of the power of the tongue, it can bless or curse.

Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have
been made in the image of God.
Words can speak life, or death. (James 3:9)
But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, “People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Matthew 4:4 NLT
God has given us His word, to build up, to encourage, to light the way.
For it was I, the Lord your God,who rescued you from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.
Psalm 81:10

God has given us good things, His wisdom, His truth, His word, HIs knowledge, and
His love. Let us remember who we are and use the things He has given to point the
way to Him.
Prayer: Jesus, thank you for your Word. Thank you for the good gifts you have given. You
have provided all we need. We are willing to be your hands and feet here on this earth.
Help us remember that we are Yours. Help us be a light in a dark place, and use the
Words you have given to lead others to you. Thank you for your great love. Amen
