SOAP Isaiah 52: Share the Good News

Share the Good News

ISAIAH 52

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring the good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion "Your God reigns”.

Isaiah 52:7 NIV

In a sense, Isaiah was speaking to a nation of hostages. The good news he meant, was the return of the exiles. The peace he meant, was to no longer have an oppressor over them.

As it is written, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame”.

Romans 9:33 NKJV

The good news is the empowerment to live a righteous life with continuous sanctification by the Holy Spirit. Zion, who is spiritually the kingdom of God is made up of every Christian in the world.

When I read a verse like this, I get a renewed energy to share the gospel. To speak to others on the life and love of Jesus. The song “I Speak Jesus” just keeps playing in my head.

“Shout Jesus from the mountain, shout Jesus in the street”! Going out into the community and sharing his word and truly “being the church”. I think in today’s society people can see Christians as either overbearing militants who use almost “scare” tactics to get people to believe in God. On the other side we have those who can be seen as “free-spirits” or possibly people who are out of touch with the realities of day to day life.

I just want people to know what I know about God! I don’t want to convince them or badger them. I am not looking for arguments. I just want them to really know how much God loves them and how much life they can have in Jesus Christ. God will work on their convictions and sanctify them. God will help them with their beliefs that need to be changed. Our job is to love people where they are at. Show others the love of Jesus and let God work out the rest.

Just as the Father has loved me, I have also loved you: abide in my love.

John 15:9 NASB1995

God has called each of us to be a messenger of his love and grace to those around us. People need to know there is more to this world than what we physically see. They are desperate for it. “Jesus said,

I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.

Luke 4:43

Prayer – Dear Lord, thank you for giving me a mission. Help me walk confidently – diligently – in your power and tell others about the life changing peace that they can find only in you. Place people in my life who need to know you. In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.
