Promises That Never End

ISAIAH 59
I never tire of reading about the amazing love of Jesus and His awesome power.
This chapter in Isaiah is all of that and more. I am filled with awe as I read. It was
really difficult to pick only one verse to highlight. The last verse is exactly what I
want in my life, in your life, and in the life of everyone I love, in the life of
everyone that I meet.
"And this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit will not leave them, and neither will these words I have given you. They will be on your lips and on the lips of your children and your children’s children forever. I, the Lord, have spoken!
Isaiah 59:21 NLT
And, when I read verses like this, I am not sure why I sometimes feel like I am
just reading something. (A quick plug for one of the great benefits of SOAPing.
To read a small portion of God’s Word with the purpose of applying it directly to
your life, today, can be transformative.) It is so much more than that a verse to
read. When God makes a covenant, it is not broken. It will not be broken. It was
said by God, it was written so long ago, and when we read it today - it is still true!
The covenant remains unbroken. The God that proclaimed it is unwavering in His
promises. It is as true now as it was then.

This covenant may have been proclaimed at that time for the Israelites, but it is
also for us, those who believe in Jesus as their savior.
That means that this is for me! For you! For your children! For your grandchildren!
It is good to take a moment to bask in these words. To allow them to flow over,
around, and through us. Right now.
As you allow this promise to soak into your thought patterns, also allow your faith to build. Where do you need to ask for God’s help to believe His promises for your life? For me, there are so many. I am growing in my faith, but there is always more ways that Jesus wants to grow us to be closer to Him. The more we grow, the larger God becomes in our life. There is no “arrival”, no “perfection” until we are with Him for eternity.

Pray with me…
Jesus, I cannot even find the words that adequately express my amazement of
Your love. Thank You, Jesus, for loving humans throughout history, despite all the
stupidities, despite all the mistakes. You do truly desire to be with us, to be for us,
to bless us with Your love, Your mercy, Your grace…which I, which we, do not
deserve. Thank You, Jesus, for loving me. Thank You, Jesus, for always teaching
me. You are Great! You are worthy of my continual praise.
