No Broken Promises

Lamentations 3

In this chapter, the author is lamenting about what was lost in Jerusalem and he relates it to his testimony. The first set of verses describes his hardships and then he talks about the hope he had in the Lord.

Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.

Lamentations 3:21, 23-24 NIV

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;

Lamentations 3:25 NIV

God was so good to Jeremiah and he was faithful. Lord didn’t fail him and kept his promises. This is a reminder that no matter what we go through, God is bigger than our circumstances. Friends and even family come and go or let us down but God remains faithful.

I like how the psalmist says it in Psalms 89:36-7:

that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun; it will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.

Just as we have certainty in the sun rising, we can also have certainty in God. When I go through hardships I have to remember that God is here whether I see it or not. He is my protector and will always keep his promises.

Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.

Joshua 23:14 NIV

PRAYER: Lord, You are such an awesome Father. You have dug me out of holes that I have put myself in. You have protected me when I didn’t know I was in danger. Thank you for being there even when I don’t hear you. I give you all the praise. Amen
