Word of the year

Word of the Year

My word of the year for 2024 was

Peace

Things I didn’t know that would happen this year:

Two major job changes

Loss of two dogs connected to me

Major surgery that my dog would need

Health challenges my daughter would have

Health challenges my close friend would have

Changes in my marriage that would be challenging

But God knew and He gave me peace

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭26‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭9‬ ‭NLT

I started the year leaving a job I had been in for 26 years. It was home. I had support and friends on my team. They had walked with me through health challenges and school and family changes. God said it was time to move. I did.

I knew that He would be with me as He had been all along but I was nervous.

I also knew when the year started that I would be taking my final certification exam to enter into therapy work fully licensed.

So many unknowns and new paths.

God spoke peace into my heart and mind. He said He would be with me and that He had and would continue to equip me.

It has been a challenging year. I passed my exam and then changed jobs again.

His peace doesn’t make the storm stop outside, it calms the inner storm. It has given me courage to stand strong and know it will be ok

I know that I will always need His peace and so this word will always be important.

Today, I pray that the peace that passes all understanding surrounds you, covers you, and lives in your heart and mind.
